The short version
TabArk is local-first by design. Your tabs, collections, snapshots and backups are stored on your own computer. We do not collect, transmit, sell or share your browsing data. We can't — there is no server to send it to.
What the extension stores, and where
- Collections and snapshots (tab URLs and titles you save): stored in your browser's local database (IndexedDB) on your device.
- Settings, install date and license key: stored in Chrome extension storage
(
chrome.storage). If you are signed into Chrome, Chrome may sync these via your own Google account's extension-sync mechanism — that sync is between you and Google, and we never see it. - Backup files: written to a folder you control (
Downloads/TabArk/) on your device.
The one network request
When you activate a license (and periodically afterwards to re-check it),
the extension sends only your license key to Gumroad's license verification API
(api.gumroad.com). No tab data, no URLs, no browsing history is ever included.
Gumroad's handling of your purchase data is covered by
Gumroad's privacy policy.
What we never do
- No analytics or tracking inside the extension
- No reading of page contents — TabArk only ever touches tab titles and URLs
- No selling or sharing of any data, to anyone, ever
